AAIMS aim is to implement education, research, and outreach programs designed to provide a safe, nutritious, and affordable food supply that enhances human health; and the mission of the institute is to enhance the quality of life for people and communities through teaching, research and outreach programs focused on human activity, food, fiber, and natural resource systems.
This program will be a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge to equip students with current data in this field. The objective of this degree program to create undergraduates in nutrition and dietetics to provide them with wide-ranging theoretical, practical, and methodological competencies for planning, development and practices to improve human health and well-being through effective application of practical nutrition knowledge in the field of nutrition.
The BS nutrition and dietetics is an undergraduate degree program that is designed to produce qualified nutritionists/professionals who can make meaningful contribution in enhancing understanding about nutritional issues of Pakistan. Like most of the developing countries, Pakistani population suffering from a variety of nutritional deficiency disorders ranging from protein-calorie malnutrition to specific micro-nutrients in certain areas of the country. chronic and acute malnutrition in the country is primarily attributed to poverty, high illiteracy among the mothers, food & nutritional insecurity.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists provide nutritional care and counseling to schools,
hospitals, nursing homes, community health programs, and in fitness centers, as well as in the
food industry.
Graduates may also become sports dietitians/nutritionists, food-service managers,
wellness coordinators, senior research technicians, or marketing consultants.Regardless of
career choice, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists are recognized as the link to nutrition and
health.
HNDs can work in management of healthcare institutions, foodservice, and business
facilities. Frequently these positions include personnel responsibilities, menu planning and
budgeting. As developed countries recognize the importance of good nutrition, management
dietitians play an increasingly key role wherever food is served.
In a sports nutrition or wellness program, HNDs educate clients about the connection between food, fitness and health. The HND counsels and assesses the nutritional needs of competitive and recreational athletes and teams.
It is a multidisciplinary program comprising of 137 credit hours to be completed in eight semesters. Apart from compulsory and basic courses, this program consists of major and minor courses, including internship and research thesis. Initially, this BS (Hons) Program will be offered at the Al-Ain Institute of Medical Sciences Gujranwala campus. BS Human Diet and Nutrition -Semester Based 8 Semester (4 Years),71 courses Semester duration 16-18 weeks and Course Load per Semester 17-18 Credit Hours (Number of courses per semester 4-6).
